| Amtrak's Empire Builder, #7 prepares for an on-time departure at the Midway Depot. The engineer was someone I worked with years ago and we had a conversation about the "good old days" when this train had a 5 man crew instead of the current 3-man crew. Amtrak is as tough a job as the freight railroads for all the personnel on this train, but I take Amtrak a lot and admire and respect all the people that work on the train for doing a good job making my long distance trips as good as they are in spite of long hours etc. |
